Higher Education 4.0 installs recording studio on another ATU campus
Lights, Camera, Action in Killybegs!

Atlantic Technological University staff on the Killybegs campus can now enjoy the resources that a new professional two-touch recording studio – installed under the Higher Education 4.0 Project – has to offer.

The installation of the new studio is the latest in a plethora of similar projects undertaken across ATU campuses in the West and Northwest of Ireland. All projects have been supported by Higher Education 4.0, which is funded under the Human Capital Initiative (HCI) Pillar 3.

The custom two-touch design means it is easy to use for all staff regardless of their familiarity with recording infrastructure.

Facilitating the recording of high-quality audio and video, this initiative will enhance the quality of online content as these studios are equipped with professional-grade microphones, key lights, webcams, teleprompter and green screens, and stream deck controller which allows one to switch between presentation modes.

The studios also feature the Epic Pen annotation app which allows the user to annotate their slides as they work through their presentation. It can be used in delivering or recording online classes.

ATU staff on Killybegs campus to ‘reap the benefit’

Higher Education 4.0 Innovation Projects Manager Noel Mulkeen said: “These two-touch pro recording studios help in two important ways: they enable academic staff to easily create a richer learning experience for our students, they provide good quality input to instructional designers, thereby reducing their workload on any subsequent postproduction that may be needed; and, finally, they help represent the ATU brand in a way that is more consistent from a look and feel perspective.

“The team in Killybegs really embraced this initiative and I’m sure they will reap the benefit in the months and years ahead,” said the Higher Education 4.0’s Innovation Projects Manager.

Delighted with the installation of the new recording studio, Head of Department, Tourism and Sport at ATU Donegal, Nicola Dunnion, said: “On behalf of all the staff on the Killybegs campus I would like to extend our gratitude to Higher Education 4.0 and John Hough for the addition of the recording studio.

“This is a beneficial asset for our lecturers, and ATU staff living in the region to enable their teaching,” she concluded.
