Hands-on ‘Maker’ learning for ATU students and secondary schools students
Hands-on ‘Maker’ learning for ATU students and secondary schools students

ATU MakerSpace is a pioneering initiative that fosters technology and creativity within ATU and beyond, inspiring the next generation of students to embrace STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics) as dynamic educational pathways and career opportunities.

We do this through our engaging in-reach supports for all ATU students with MakerSpace campus facilities in Galway, Sligo and Letterkenny, and through our mobile outreach programs for secondary school students across the region.

Skill Development
Skill Development

The skills developed in the MakerSpace labs are of great value in a world where future graduates will need to be creative in their thinking, willing to take risks and collaborate effectively with others across disciplinary boundaries. This is essential to address some of the key global challenges affecting society today. In addition, theses spaces also facilitate an outreach programme to secondary schools and bring higher education and state-of-the-art technology to schools in the project region to inspire the next generation of innovators by demonstrating how STEM can be applied to a range of areas across a variety of sectors.
