“It helps these employers meet the obligations they have in relation to health and safety training†- Edel Costello, ATU lecturer in Occupational Safety and Health
ATU free course playing important role in the workplace
Atlantic Technological University’s Workplace Safety, Health and Welfare Induction FREE, online, short course (or MOOC) has been developed by the Occupational Safety & Health lecturers in ATU, in conjunction with the Health and Safety Authority, which is the regulatory body. So, employers can be assured the information is up to date and is accurate.
Said ATU lecturer Edel Costello: “The MOOC is comprised of eight short awareness-raising courses. There are two essential mandatory units for the certification which covers all the basics of health and safety in the workplace. There are six others, which are not mandatory, covering manual handling, ergonomics, housekeeping, chemical safety, workplace transport safety, and noise and machinery.
“Learners who successfully complete the course can download a certificate, which can be kept by their employers as part of their training records. So, it helps these employers meet the obligations they have in meeting health and safety training.”
Supported by Higher Education 4.0, Workplace Safety, Health and Welfare Induction free course is just one of many ATU boasts that are aligned to meet industry demand.
