Partnership promotes both STEM and financial wellness among students
Atlantic Technological University’s pioneering outreach initiative promoting the STEM subjects in secondary schools, ATU MakerSpace, is happy to announce a new partnership with HedgeHog Financial Wellness.
As part of the ATU MakerSpace outreach programme, which is supported by the Higher Education 4.0 Project, HedgeHog will run financial wellness workshops for young adults to empower students with the tools to thrive in a chaotic world.
At HedgeHog, they believe that success in education and life starts with mastering the essential skills that go beyond the classroom, an ethos shared by ATU MakerSpace.
Welcoming the partnership, Higher Education 4.0 Innovation Projects Manager Noel Mulkeen, who oversees the ATU MakerSpace initiative, says: “ATU MakerSpace’s hands-on, interactive workshops are designed to give students the tools they need to build a strong foundation for their educational and personal journeys and our partner HedgeHog can now extend our suite of workshops to include financial wellness.
“Hedgehog Financial Wellness helps kickstart a young person’s financial wellness journey and Higher Education 4.0 is delighted to work with ATU MakerSpace to bring this to students.”
Speaking on behalf of Hedgehog, Co-Founder Caitlin Hafer says they are thrilled to be working with ATU MakerSpace and to have their support in bringing these important life skills to more students.
“By making financial wellness interesting, tangible, and dare we say even fun we’re teaching students not only the nuts and bolts of financial wellness, but the critical thinking skills to make informed decisions that support their unique journeys,” she says.
“This partnership with ATU MakerSpace highlights the importance of linking together classroom skills and real-world applications to set students on strong foundation for their future.”
