New innovative models of learning

MakerSpace

The first MakerSpace has opened on the ATU Galway Campus and spaces are planned for Sligo and Donegal in the coming year. These spaces will support the project-based learning programmes developed as part of Higher Ed 4.0. Theses spaces will also facilitate outreach to schools and bring higher education and state of the art technology to schools in the project region to inspire the next generation of innovators by demonstrating how STEM can be applied to a range of areas across a variety of sectors.

The skills developed in MakerSpaces are of great value in a world where future graduates will need to be creative in their thinking, willing to take risks and collaborate effectively with others across disciplinary boundaries. This is essential to address some of the key global challenges affecting society today.
